Sports Funding and Provision

At Orchard Academy, we understand the importance of physical education and healthy living.

We also deliver an inclusive curriculum, which includes quality PE and Games. Cross-curricular links are also being covered through PE and Games helping to ensure good or better progress, not only in Physical Education but also across the curriculum.

Aims

The National Curriculum for physical education aims to ensure that all pupils:

  • develop competence to excel in a broad range of physical activities
  • are physically active for sustained periods of time
  • engage in competitive sports and activities
  • lead healthy, active lives.

By the end of each key stage pupils are expected to know, apply and understand the matters, skills and processes specified in the relevant programme of study.

Orchard Academy aims to raise the aspirations of children, encouraging them to acquire skills to perform a variety of physical activities for every student within the school regardless of their sporting talent, physical and mental abilities or disabilities. With our provision of breakfast club, active play and extra-curricular clubs, at Orchard we endeavour to provide opportunities and enrichment for all children and in turn, impacting positively on the school and wider community.
