Science at Orchard Academy 

At Orchard Academy, we recognise the importance of science throughout daily life.

Our Science Curriculum aims to embed the ‘Big Ideas’ of Science through teaching and learning, as well as enabling children to think and work scientifically.  We understand that high quality science teaching fosters curiosity and equips children with the skills to support them to answer scientific questions about the world around them and develop a wide vocabulary.

We aim to develop essential skills to deepen their scientific knowledge to be able to record and report their scientific findings in systematic, scientific ways. We believe that hands on scientific experience enriches and deepens the understanding of our children. Given our school context, we aim to provide children with new and exciting experiences to spark their curiosity and passion for science. 

When children leave Orchard Academy, we aim for them to be equipped with the scientific knowledge required to understand the uses and concepts of science to prepare them adequately for the continued study of this subject in Secondary education, excited by a love of the world around them.
