East Midlands Academy Trust to host regional conference on SEND provisionPosted on: 03/02/2020
A special conference looking at special educational needs will be hosted by East Midlands Academy Trust this summer.
The free conference will focus on how schools can ensure they deliver the highest quality SEND provision by encouraging every teacher to understand the importance of inclusive teaching and learning.
The event will take place on Wednesday 11th November at Northampton International Academy and is open to headteachers, middle leaders, SENCOs and other SEND leaders, and school governors.
Attendees will hear from a number of expert speakers on subjects including:
- The national picture of SEND
- The Education Inspection Framework relating to SEND
- What senior leaders and governors should be doing to develop a whole school approach to SEND
- What good inclusive teaching looks like in mainstream schools
The event is open to primary and secondary schools across the region.
Joshua Coleman, chief executive of East Midlands Academy Trust, said: “SEND provision is always a key issue for schools and even more so this year with the Department for Education’s review of the SEND system due to report back in the summer.
“The aim of our event is to offer schools some advice and support on how to best support SEND pupils in mainstream schools and ensure teaching and learning is as inclusive as possible.
“We’ll have a number of expert speakers and we hope teachers, heads, governors and SEND leads will find it a really useful event.”
